Retired with a sketchbook and a cup of coffee. Thanks for coming by.

NYC
A great trip home with Air Canada, yes, they can be great, in executive class thanks to Aeroplan, with an exceptional service manager who made the trip, well, exceptionable. It was an Airbus with the "pods" type of seats. Loved it. A great ending.
NYC
We went to Brooklyn on a scorching hot day. Nearly dissolved walking around in the heat . Found refuge in this neat restaurant. Just enough gas in the tank to draw a table.
NYC
I have wanted to see, day dreamed about, the Art Students League for many years, unfortunately the store and gallery were closed and there was no getting past the security guy so, even better, I went across the street and drew it.

NYC
Went to lunch and a Starbucks in Greewich Village. This is a great part of the city, a different atmosphere.
Of course we went to McNulty's Tea & Coffee, Greenwich Village, had to buy a mug, and a Tshirt. A great place, all the original store fixtures, a trip into the past, still doing a great business. Now owned and operated by an asian family. I rather excitedly said to one of them, "I am a McNulty". No glance up, no change of expression, just an "Oh Yeah!", which sounded like the answer to anything you may say to him. Bummer. Fun anyway!

Engine 55 FDNY
We were walking in Little Italy when I saw this old, 1918, firehall. I was taking a picture for my son who is a firefighter in Coquitlam. One of the men in the hall saw me and invited us in. They lost 5 men on 9/11 and have a memorial in the hall. I bought a commemorative T shirt for Chris. A very emotional experience. For me 9/11 was a long way away until today. Drawn from my photo.
This building down the street from Engine 55 has the typical fire escapes on the front of the building.

NYC
New York Public Library, a beautiful building, huge rooms, very high ceilings, long oak tables, every place taken, very quiet.
A great food concourse at Grand Central Terminal.

NYC
Stood on the corner of 5th Ave and 52nd St NYC and drew the multidudes. Actually multitudes. So many people, all getting along.
I have seen many wonderful drawings by my Usk internet friends of St Patricks and I wanted to give it a try. Of course the exterior was covered by scaffolding. We went inside. Magnificent.

NYC
Drew looking down the street in front of our apt. Then went to the Met Museum of Art where they kindly let seniors pay what they wish.
After The Met we went into Central Park. There were of course a lot more people, mostly nannies with little children.
A couple buskers, as usual attracted some children, of course my wife said in my drawing they look like garden gnomes. Imagine!

New York
Bev and I took a trip to NYC and I managed to do a few hurried sketches amongst all the sightseeing. The Air Canada Lounge, Staten Island ferry and the view from our upper east side apartment.
